         To Whom It May Concern:

Obesity Thunder Bay is a think tank based in Thunder Bay with a number of participants from all over the world. This global resource is working together to not only formulate policies of healthy eating and healthy lifestyles, but also hopes to promote a culture of acceptance, tolerance, and anti-bullying of individuals who suffer from obesity. One of the goals of our organization is to encourage individuals, groups, and governments to promote a healthy environment by re-evaluating some of the regulations in the food industry, as well as act as a support group for those needing a little extra help. We, too, wish to teach society about our addiction to food, sometimes treating it as a substance rather than as a simple nourishing fuel, thus leading to unhealthy habits.

The most important goal of our organization, however, is to promote healthy lifestyles amongst young people. Youth today live a more dormant lifestyle than children of before, but it is not solely the fault of the child, and we wish to change the stigma that is associated with “fat children.” Our society often mocks and alienates the “fat kid” and quite often a child will feel like the enemy of a slender world. We want these kids to know that just because they have a weight problem now does not mean that they have to continue to live their lives this way – there are solutions, and we at Obesity Thunder Bay hope to help open the doors to the path of better health and better self-image.

One small town of approximately 5,000 people located in France decided to stand up and fight obesity. Tests similar to the experiments conducted in this town could be conducted all over our wonderful province, and Obesity Thunder Bay is ready to take on such an endeavour. As coordinators of this project, we would be responsible for overseeing the ins and outs of the everyday, monitoring, experimenting, etc., and providing results to groups such as the Ministry of Health Promotion and Sport to help strive for change in the way we live and the way we eat.
I would like to have an opportunity to meet with you to discuss this initiative further. I believe that it would be advantageous for the Ministry of Health Promotion and Sport to be involved, as a regulatory body, as well as a financial partner. I also believe that working together to make Ontario a healthier province overall is the entire reason why Premier Dalton McGuinty believes so strongly in MHPS, and why it came into existence under his watch in the first place. Please allow me 30 minutes of your time to discuss further the objectives and visions of our organization.

Please have your scheduler contact me directly at" number removed" , and we could arrange a mutually agreeable time.

Thanking you in advance for any and all support for Obesity Thunder Bay.

Sincerely,

Paul Murphy, Founder, Creator and Funder

P.S. Please check out www.obesitythunderbay.ning.com  and www.obesitythunderbay.ca to view our 100%, not-for-profit organization.

P.S.   We are eager to conduct a trial on the “ Shared Accountability Model” , and the work is 100% not for profit. Obese children are not the enemy. And volunteers are most welcomed to assist in the launch of this new inclusive work plan.  ( I will meet with groups ,or individuals to allow for greater exploration of the concept).
