Biography of Childhood Obesity
MARCH 4, 2013 by JOHNNY RINGO in EDUCATION & YOUTH · EDIT

Hey everyone, my name is Janeen, and I’m going to talk to you
about childhood obesity. I personally think that it is a serious topic. As a
child I have been bigger (overweight) compared to other children I know.
Although I have always been a bigger child it never bothered me or my health.
At the age of 12 I wanted to lose weight but I didn’t know how, or maybe I was
just too lazy. Now I look back on the decision and I realize that if I tried
losing weight in the past then I wouldn’t have the problem today. My consequence
is that I’m about 180lbs.
However, I have the chance to speak about childhood obesity in
an effort to help myself and others; childhood obesity is very common in
Canada. Obesity can be caused by eating too much and not doing physical
activities. People use food to relieve emotional stresses or problems they
have. But have you realized that when you continue eating, the problem doesn’t
go away or it doesn’t make you feel better? PLEASE NEVER EAT TO MAKE YOURSELF
FEEL BETTER! (It doesn’t make me feel better).
I know that maybe you are too lazy to get up and do sports, but
I think that you can come out of your lazy shell and do something like: walk to
the store, walk around in the mall, or even join a sports club. Don’t be
embarrassed about your weight; there is always a reason for something. Maybe
this can even help you to break out your shell. Do sports that you enjoy, if
you pick a sport that you are not comfortable with you will never work hard
enough. Do activities together with your family or someone that you feel
comfortable around so you can enjoy doing different activities. Also another
advice is spending less television and computer time; limit these times to less
than 1 to 2 hours per day so you can put other enjoyable activities in your
schedule.
Childhood obesity doesn’t just affect kids around the age of 5
to 10; it also affects kids in junior high, and high school. High school kids
can also eat a lot to relieve their stress. As I said before DON’T EAT FOOD TO
HELP YOUR PROBLEMS (it doesn’t work). Eradicating childhood obesity is
not only the responsibility of the child but also parents’ (father and
mother). Parents must ensure that kids are eating the correct portions of
food, manage the food they are buying, and prepare homemade lunches for school.
Parents have a huge role to play in the eradication of childhood
obesity.
Parents you must:
·
help your children to be more expressive of their feelings
·
help your children to lose the weight
·
not verbally abuse children about their overweight or obesity
Children, be careful with how much you are eating because it can
lead to heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, cancer, gall bladder, and
breathing problems. It’s not good!! I don’t think you want a disease for the
rest of your life. STAY HEALTHY! If after reading this blog you decide to
lose weight and you don’t trust yourself, get a close friend, maybe a best
friend, or a family member that you trust a lot and do it together.
ALSO, here is a Christian advice; pray about it, trust me- God
will work out a plan for you. Do not depend on yourself alone, ask others
to help you, and make plans for your diet and exercise. DON’T GIVE UP, DO
IT FOR YOURSELF… DON’T GIVE UP ON YOURSELF, TRUST YOURSELF AND TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF…
TRUST ME IT WILL PAY OFF!!!
