In
early 2014, Iowa science teacher John Cisna made national headlines
after losing more than 60 pounds and improved his blood pressure and
cholesterol eating only McDonald’s for six months, along with
introducing regular exercise. His experiment was conducted with his
sophomore science class, independent of McDonald’s – although the local
McDonald's restaurant owner provided John’s food and beverage free of
charge. John incorporated regular moderate exercise, planned carefully,
limited his calories and chose meals based on his dietary and lifestyle
needs. John’s message is not about a weight loss plan and no one is
suggesting that eating at McDonald’s will result in any health benefit.
Rather, John’s message is about the importance of making balanced
choices. John is living proof that it isn't where you eat, but what and
how much you eat. Cisna’s story is documented in the film, “540 Meals:
Choices Make the Difference.” http://www.mcdonalds.com/us/en/food.html
